the week through the lens

it has been on the back burner, i have not been taking a lot of photos for a while now, and that should change. so i put the "hand made" lens back on the camera body and got started this week. it touched me in a special way, as i wander and have the camera ready be it in the kitchen, or living room table... this enables me to see with new eyes and i like it. we will see if it sticks, it is a start to a new friday review of what caught my eye. there is to be said, that i was inspired by erin boyle and her blog "reading my tea leaves". she does a wonderful job and it is so inspirational to have a look at her photos...

the list for 2019

a bit toot for the beginning of a new year. what a joy to start with a clean slate. a little friend of mine found an old and broken trumpet in a dumpster. there needed to be some fixing. amos helped him with it and ended up rummaging through the kitchen, finding a little funnel, cutting it into the right length and the boy was so happy with his "new" instrument.
this is like a new year. starting something a fresh and with enthusiasm. a sunny afternoon, a long walk with a friend and a delicious dinner followed by enjoyable music is a proper start, i think.
here is my list for 2019. i have been list writing in the past and really enjoyed the alphabet challange last year. i keep the alphabet going. there are a few words i keep on my list, as they have proven to be good ones. the most though are new and some of them just sound exciting. a bit of fun and a bit of a stretch in my vocabulary has to be.

:: aquiring a new skill. i have not decided what, but i will take steps to aquire some thing new. along
             the lines of crafting or writing or photography, maybe some where else... though i will remind
             myself, as i look at this list!

:: become might be an over used word, right now. though i want to focus on becoming a better
             listener. learning to be more empathic and understanding.

:: craft is the art of making. creative reuse of all kinds of things. i want to utilize what i have and
              own. and also keep in mind that some times there needs to be thinking out of the box.

:: d...

:: elate (to make happy) in what my days are bringing. it is the teaching at home and in school, that
              brings joy to me and is carrying me into new experiences.

               the end of the matter; all has been heard.

:: fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. ecclesiastes 12:13
             this the vers i want to cling to and find out what the meaning of it is and can be for me. there
             is not a focus on fear, but i wanted to put it on my list and the k was already taken. though
            there is that common theme of keeping...

:: guard the space we as a family need. within our community, at dinner tables and sticking with what
            we learned worked for us. make room for adventures just with one of the kids. mind the space
            the teenagers and young adults need.

:: hold on to physical exercise. keep running as it is a good mesure for my mental well being. the 25k
             a week are attainable and some strengthening exercises should be added twice a week.

:: irish music, there has been a wonderful house concert last year at st.patricks day. lets do it again.

:: j...

:: keep praying at the core of my evening routine.
              simply stick with the compline at the end of the day

:: laugh a lot and in good companie. it helps to overcome the ernest and serious battle of the daily
              grind. and i want to get better at it and learn to see and enjoy the sunny side of life, even
              when it sucks.

:: mend what is broken and needs tending. mending socks and pants and all kinds of clothes is a good
              thing and i will keep the pile of clothes near the sewing machine low.

:: notice and pay attention to the little and unnoticable things in my every day life. especially while
              teaching, i want to support and strengthen the kids.

:: o...

:: photografie is a means of going through life more careful. keep on taking pictures.

:: quasimodogeniti is reminding me of the chruch year. it is the first sunday after easter. i want to
              keep the rhythm of the round of a year. the simplicity and the enjoyment of celebrating
              drives the every day into the wonderful ongoings of expectation and celebration.

:: reading i have to keep reading and i want to read. it also is rewarding to look at the list of writen
               books. and that's why i keep the r going as last year.

:: simplicity is a focus word. making life and work and and projects simpler. focus on simple matters
              should be shaping my thinking and doing more. make what you use, borrow what you need,

:: take a second look at situations which trouble me. and try to jot down the sources and possibilities
              causing the trouble.

:: u...
:: velocity what a cool word, not that i understand the realm of "getting faster"....
:: wanderlust is what i'm thinking already about, it notches me to the "outdoor activity" area at the
              library and made me buy new boots last summer. there should be a few hikes with thea as
              well as some higher and more challenging ones with joel.

:: relax a bit more, i want to be calm and relaxed and it should be internalized and become second
              nature for me. especially in situations when things or people explode around me

:: yellow there is something about the glow and lightness of this color. there should be more, i want ot
             dedicate some time and doing for a series on it.

:: zoo the zurich zoo has some fantastic elephant park, it is  i want to see. it has been opened in 2014
             and i have not seen it yet...

 i'm not done with my list and it is ok with the loose ends. i need more time to tied them up.

finishing up the year

the year is on it's last leg, or better arriving at it's peak...
it is not really this or that, but i decided to look back a bit and try to put it into a few words. not very elaborate or eloquent, just rambling along. as i'm sitting down and keep on breathing, it's not a question of life or death, it's the moment of being still and take it all in now.

as i work through many struggles, and i don’t give up. i work hard to learn from made mistakes. if there’s something i really want to do, i work to stick with it.
i’ve found that, more often than not, from every failed attempt, there’s something of value to take away. i hope to model resilience for my children,with my efforts to persevere.

most everything i do helps me, to stay balanced — and also brings me joy.
this is true for the past year and will still stick with me in the coming year. and so i decide in the spur of the moment, that i don't tally up my list of 2018. (you can look at it, and i do so too, in the mid year "list poste". and with this i close the year, glad for all of it and grateful for the learning experiences i got.
