i did set out today with the goal in mind to put all the bulbs into the "new" top soil (we call it humus), which was dumped into the bed in front of our house...
but no i did not make it. there was so much too much top soil that i hauled 18 loads all the way to the back of the house, and made a corner for raspberries...
because we got top soil and not gardening soil (which would be very smooth and contain compost) i had to work it hard with the garden tools and pick out over one wheel barrow of stones...
it's done now and tomorrow will be planting time.

We aren't having your sunny weather today, Daniela, but I was inspired to start a bit of cleaning of our garden spaces as well. Because our compost bin was buried under snow for so long, we began temporarily using a composting service based here in JP. An enterprising young man started a company called "Bootstrap Composting"- he gives you a clean 5 gallon bucket each week, and each week he hauls away your full bucket. In spring, we will receive a portion of compost. It is especially nice because he accepts even meat and bones, which we don't dare to put into our backyard bin. I thought you would be interested to hear about this! Now that our compost bin has re-emerged thanks to some rain and warmer temperatures, we'll be going back to our own composting. Keep up the hard work!!
